My name is Thomas Jäger, I`m 36 years old and live in Ludwigshafen in Germany. I`m a psychologist and since 1996 I’m working as a researcher at the Centre for Educational Research of the University of Koblenz-Landau. From 1997 I coordinated small school-based and community-based violence prevention projects and collected experiences with whole-school-approaches, several questionings of up to 3000 pupils and started the first small German link collection on school violence. From 2000-2003 I coordinated my first EU-project called VISIONARY in which we – that means five EU-countries: Germany, the UK, Portugal, Denmark and Finland – created an Internet portal on school bullying and violence. Basing on this project I worked out a proposal for a successor project called VISIONARIES-NET that was approved by the European Commission in 2004. In this new project an International team of partners from France, Germany, Spain and Romania will hold online conferences on school bullying and violence and extend the VISIONARY portal by three further languages. When I`m not working for this project – what is not that often in these days - I`m trying my very best to work on my phd … ;-)

I am a Ph.D. student at Roskilde University in Denmark. I did my Master’s in Child Studies. My Master’s thesis was focused on masculinity and the ways in which bullying was used in the policing of it. The fieldwork was conducted at a New Zealand all-boys’ high school, including both observations and interviews with 15-year-old boys. I am currently engaged in a Ph.D. project aimed at contextualising bullying within schools – looking at the ways in which bullying is linked to contextual factors.
Web site: Bullying Research
I maintain the website, Bullying Research, as a means of making international research into school bullying more accessible. The website does not offer solutions or advice, but rather provides sources and links that will hopefully assist those interested in better understanding the bullying problem. By focusing internationally, the website also aims to highlight the importance of context and the different ways in which bullying can be approached. There appears to be a lack of emphasis on research, and the website is a means of helping to rectify this. As my own research is focused on contextualising bullying, the website can also be seen as a ‘living resource’, upon which I draw information and inspiration for my own research and writing.

(social worker)
My background is that of an English social worker who has lived, worked and studied in Denmark for the last seven years. I recently gained my masters of science in social worker work. My dissertation focuses upon social work education and how English and Danish social workers are prepared to work with child sexual abuse.
I have worked with children, young people and their families for about 15 years now in both England and Denmark. I have countered bullying often in my work in Denmark. Bullying is a problem that frequently shows up both in schools and in higher education.
Mobile telephones seem to be a constant media for bullies to continue harassing their victims around the clock – and out of school. This is an issue that seems to be on the rise – moreover the issue of sending embarrassing photo’s of one another is something that we often hear about within our local authority.

I am 42, married and two children (17 & 4 years old); I passed my Ph.D at the university of Portsmouth; my dissertation was a comparison of school climate and violence in socially deprived urban lower secondary schools. Together with Pr. Eric Debarbieux, we have founded the European Observatory of Violence in Schools in 1998. Part of this adventure were several academics from other European countries of which you can find a list on our website.
Apart from violence in schools, I am currently researching school drop out and behaviour disorders such as juvenile delinquency.
I am part of the Campbell collaboration crime and justice group steering committee and I take part to the International Self Reported Delinquency Survey that is going on at the moment. I am also member of the Eurogang research group.
Project:
The European Observatory of Violence in Schools is a laboratory for research into the phenomena of school and urban violence.
Attached to the Educational Sciences Department of the Victor Ségalen University of Bordeaux 2 (France), the Observatory is run by Doctor Catherine Blaya and co-ordinated by Benjamin Moignard a Ph.D. student at the Department of Education Sciences in Bordeaux
The European Observatory of Violence in Schools has been existing since 1998 thanks to joint funding from the European Commission, the Aquitaine Regional Council, the French Ministry of Education, and Victor Ségalen University of Bordeaux 2.
The Observatory is one of the leading structures addressing the question of the study of violence in schools. It is the concrete outcome of long-term research carried out by various teams headed by Eric Debarbieux since 1991. This research has been cumulative in France and abroad.The success of the first world conference entitled “Violence in Schools and Public Policies” that we organised in March 2001 in Paris served to enlarge the network, and we have received many requests for collaboration from scientists and public institutions – including the UNESCO and the European Parliament. The second one took place in 2003 in Quebec and was jointly organised by the University of Bordeaux 2 and the University of Laval. The third world conference took place in 2003 in Bordeaux in january 2006 and have been organised by the International Observatory of Violence in Schools, the European Observatory of Violence in Schools, and the Canadian Network on School Violence Prevention. The fourth one will be organised in 2007

I'm teacher at a german Grund-Haupt-Werkrealschule which is called "Gutenbergschuke" in "Riederich"and normally teaching physik, mathematik and computing.. One of my favorite things is programming websites and I did this in school with some working groups. A long time I did a teacher advanced trainig in computer science and some other stuff. For for years I've been a teacher at the educational university in Ludwigsburg. Now I do some projects for our local "education office" and I'm member of the " Landesschulbeirat" , who has to consult the "ministry of education" in Baden Württemberg ( South Germany).
Project / web site:
Starting in 2001 a project in school about mobbing. ( Age of the pupil 13-15) Googling in the WWW for informations we only found some websites for adults. No information about mobbing in school. We decided to make an internet- portal für pupil,because we thought, that the subject is verx important, found a sponsor, and Schueler-Mobbing was "born". In the meantime Schueler-Mobbing "runs" stand alone. We have several moderators for our Foru/Portalm ouround the Federal Republic of Germany - e.g. kids, students and teacher. For problems of the boys and girls there is a psyhologic.
Problems between teacher, parents and school organisations is my part. Our forum is for all those, who want to exchange their mobbing-problems between each other.
We expanded our portal and offer a webblog and a wiki about mobbing. There exists a barrier-free version of our website for obstructed people.
Nearly daily we're getting requests by mail, so we decided to make a Mobbing Help Desk ( MHD), by telefone. Several TV and Radio Stations took Schueler-Mobbing as a referece for their reports. We had a lot of interviews with newspapers e.g. TIMES.

I was born in England in 1971, and read psychology at the University of Glasgow (B.Sc. (Hons.), 1995) and counselling psychology at Trinity College Dublin (MSc. 1997). I am presently completing doctoral studies at Trinity College Dublin's School of Education, where I am also employed as a lecturer in the Psychology of Education. Since 2000, I have been a member of staff at Trinity College Dublin's Anti-Bullying Research and Resource Centre, and am regularly called upon to provide training and presentations to various groups within schools and the broader community. I am the co-author (with Professor Mona O’ Moore) of 'Dealing with Bullying in Schools: A Training Manual for Teachers, Parents and Other Professionals' (2004, Paul Chapman Publishing). With Professor O' Moore, I have been involved in a number of European research projects, and have co-written a number of chapters and articles on school bullying and violence.
Research Center / web site:
The Anti-Bullying Research and Resource Centre was established in January 1996, in the Department of Education, Trinity College Dublin. It was founded, and is co-ordinated by Professor Mona O’ Moore. The Anti-Bullying Research and Resource Centre deals with issues of both schools-based and workplace bullying; given the project under consideration, we will here consider schools-based bullying only, where its activities include:
• Active participation in pan-European research projects and networks;
• Active participation in local and national level research projects;
• Provides an ‘outreach’ service to schools: presentations to school students and parents; in-service training for teachers; work with school management authorities on aspects of anti-bullying policies and actions in schools; the compilation and presentation of reports;
• Provides, via the operation of both a telephone and a drop-in service, advice and assistance on an informal basis to anyone concerned with the issue of school bullying;
• The provision of an information / resource library, which any member of the public may join;
• The provision of a counselling service (staffed by professionally accredited counsellors) for those affected by bullying behaviour;
• Some of the Centre’s staff provide, through their employment by Trinity College Dublin, input into the teaching and supervision of pre- and in-service students of education.
The Anti-Bullying Research and Resource Centre’s web-site may be found at www.abc.tcd.ie.

Professor Astrid Mona O'Moore has been involved in extensive research into bullying in Ireland. In 1993-94, she led the first nationwide survey of bullying behaviour in Irish schools, which looked at violence between pupils and also violence between pupils and school staff. In a more recent survey, she examined workplace bullying in schools. She is Co-ordinator of The Anti-Bullying Centre, at the Department of Education, Trinity College, The University of Dublin, Dublin, The Republic of Ireland.

I am 46 years old and I work as clinical psychologist, most of the time in primary and secondary schools. I am the owner and the administrator of my web site. In the last 8 years I deal with school bullying, making researches into the spreading of bullying inside the schools and interventions in classrooms. I called this kind of intervention “Emotional and relational paths with the classes” and they are divided in three interdependent levels of actions: collaboration with teachers; meetings with the class (14- 20 hours) and parents’ sensitization on the problem. I'm using e-mail since 1995 and I have my web site since 1997.
Web site: Bullismo? NO Grazie!
Dealing with school bullying, some years ago I discovered that there were a lot of very good web sites about bullying, but almost all of them were in English. At the same time I used some freeware programs and when I needed help about them or about using internet, I’ve found it in the newsgroups. So in 1999 I decided to make available some informations about bullying in Italian. Everything is done free of charge during my free time. No organization or anybody support me. When someone writes consulting me, I try to answer to everybody. I receive mails from parents, teachers, university students and rarely from pupils. I would like that the site should become a reference and an exchange place about bullying reduction, but I cannot increase the time dedicated to the maintenance of the site. So at this time the main objective is to make a good information about bullying and suggest some remarks to help who suffer because of the bullying to find the strength to activate itself in order to solve the problem.

Hi, I'm Rinus Rodenburg (age 50). My son has been bullyed for more then seven years. Allthough I've tried to get help from allmost any source, like school, police, anti-bullying organisations, etc. again and again I found myself standing with my back against the wall. Even in Juvenile Cord bullying was not admitted but discribed as if he had been teased. The way my son and I have been treated has been more then shamefull. Therefore I hope that I can contribute in preventing this happening to other victims of bullying.
In my fight against bullying I'm concentrating on the bully and the responsability of his/her parent(s). Furthermore I'm trying to change peoples attitude regarding to bullying because the bully has a reason and a purpose rather than just a victim that is diverge from the others. Unfortunately present methods depend on the voluntary co-operation of the perpetrator, so this is where my priority comes in.

I am 20 years old and been working on a 'online antimobbing community' for over 6 years.I was bullied for about 7 or 8 years, it began when I was 8 and it ended when I was 16. That helps us to have an unique view about mobbing and how other feel and deal with it.
Web site: Vereniging TegenPesten.nl
Our 'Vereniging' or association Tegenpesten.nl is a website, with its function of giving a broad amount of information to its visitors and it gives people a chance to help/advise each other at our Forum. Growing this large as we are today hasn' t been easy for us, as we were children when we began and still being as young as today, no one really believed in us at first and we had to build every little thing on our own. But we managed and with a growing number of visitors who personally want to help us, with their help we are possible to stay innovative to keep searching at new solutions for this ever lasting problem.

I have been involved in education for 30 years including a Head teacher in 3 different schools. For the last 4 years I have been the anti-bullying strategy manager for leicestershire schools.I developed a strategy for 2003-6 which is now being updated..I am 56 years old and am a founder member of the Anti-Bullying Alliance.I am a member of ABA's national Advisory Group. Until recently I was ABA Regional Co-ordinator for the East Midlands and worked with other local authorities in the region.I work in the Educational Psychology Service and have 4 colleagues who are part of my team.
Website: www.beyondbullying.com
An importanr part of our anti-bullying strategy for Leicestershire was the development of our web site www.beyondbullying.com. This was developed to provide information,support,advice and guidance for schools.students and parents..We work with all schools in Leicestershire(ages range from 3 to 18years).Our priorities are to reduce bullying in schools,raise awareness of bullying across the community and gain acknowledgement that bullying is an issue for the whole of societynot just the schools responsibility.Ultimately we want the creation of a violent free society. I work in a team of five three of whom are Educational psychologists.
Our action plan for the strategy covers 4 main areas:
Support and guidance for schools( including a web site).
Awareness raising both in school and the community as a whole( including a media strategy
Development of new initiatives
Sharing of successful practice locally and nationally.)
We have reduced the level of students being bullied over the last 3 years and been particularly successful in the Primary phase.
Organisation:
The Anti-Bullying Alliance is a national alliance of approximately 70 charities,organisations and interested bodies. Fundind is primarily from the Government( via DfES).There is a national advisory group and 9 Regional co-ordinatorsThe full membership meet three times a year.There is a successful annual national anti-bullying week each NovemberThis year it will focus on Bystander Behaviour and hopefully in 2007 it will focus on cyber bullying.

In 2001, the bullying were introduced to ABRAPIA in a visit in Kidskape, London.During 2002 and 2003, I coordenated a project about bullying in 11 schools of Rio de Janeiro, involving 5.500 students, from 10 to 18 years old. As the result of this study, me and de psycologist Lucia Helena Saavedra wrote a book called "Say NO to Bullying" that were published by ABRAPIA.
Web site: http://www.bullying.com.br
The site is the only one in Brazil and maybe in Latin America. It has been constructed during the execution of ABRAPIA's project, during 2002 and 2003, to get ons more resource to disseminate the theme. Our objective was to inform about concepts of bullying, its causes and possibles effects to children, teenagers and schools.
The research made by ABRAPIA's team will be put on the site in early future.
ABRAPIA published a book about the project, called "Say NO to Bullying". The 2000 books were freely distributed and the site is the single way for a wide communication with the society.
The Bullying site is supported by ABRAPIA with its own resources or the collaborations of a few volunteers.

The National Center of Education Statistics (NCES) of the United States Department of Education is the primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data related to education. The NCES "crime team" gathers information about student victimization, school crime, and the policies and practices schools use to reduce school crime. We are a five-member team with backgrounds in crime, psychology, and survey methodology, and work for a nonprofit organization as a subcontractor to NCES. The NCES project officer responsible for crime surveys has overseen the surveys for over eight years.
Project: U.S. Department of Education National Center for Education Statistics - Crime Surveys
The Crime and Safety Surveys website for the National Center for Education Statistics is available at nces.ed.gov/programs/crime/.The site is divided into three sections: student surveys, principal/school surveys, and other surveys. The major student survey we manage is the School Crime Supplement to the National Crime Victimization Survey, a survey of 12-18 year-old students who reported being victimized at school. The major school survey we manage is the School Survey on Crime and Safety, a piblic school principal survey that allows the creation of national statistics on serious violent, violent, and theft crimes in schools and theuse of programs and practices to prevent them.Data, instruments, and related reports for these and other surveys are all available through the Crime and Survey Surveys website.

My name is Tom Letson. I am 42 years old, married with three children and presently reside in New Jersey. (USA) I am a NJ Licensed Professional Counselor and a NJ Certifed Student Assistance Program Professional. Since the Columbine Tragedy in 1999 I have implemented and monitor a bullying awareness and anonymous reporting system in three middle schools (grades 6 to 8) for a public school district in NJ. My web site (www.bullystoppers.com) is a result of the success of the above experience, as I have found anonymous reporting tools to be essential in any effective strategy to reduce school bullying. I am the owner and sole operator of this web site which I have updated daily since it's creation in 2001. I also perform threat assessment interviews for my school district and use my web site as a training tool for school professionals to appropriately assess the level of threats made by students.
Web site: BULLYSTOPPERS.COM
Bullystoppers.com has been in existence since 2001. It offers a free service for kids to report bullying occuring at school. Kids need a place to anonymously report bullying incidents for several reasons. The first and foremost is to protect self-esteem. Kids do not like to be known, either privately or publicly, as a victim of bullying. For many kids (especially for boys), coming forward to an adult to report being bullied may be admission of weakness for being unable to make the abuse stop without adult assistance. For this reason, reporting anonymously helps them to “save face” and inform those in charge of the problem without being seen as weak or as a tattle-tail. Another reason is address a victim’s fear of reprisal for coming forward. The reporting on Bullystoppers.com does not involve providing names or initials of potential bullies. This insures against false reporting and the reluctance on schools to utilize anonymous reporting due to liability concerns. The reports provide schools with just enough information to begin investigations and come to their own conclusions regarding the reported problem.

I have a master’s degree in special education with a focus on “at risk” children and a law degree. I taught emotionally disturbed children, then practiced technology law. In the early 90’s, turned my attention to issues related to technology in schools. (Not all who wander are lost.) Since 1995, I have been focusing primarily on issues related to the safe and responsible use of the Internet, with a primary focus on Internet use management in schools.
I have spent the last 2 years investigating the concern of cyberbullying and have just published Cyberbullying and Cyberthreats: Responding to the Challenge of Online Social Cruelty, Threats, and Distress. I am currently working on a book for parents entitled Raising Cybersavvy Kids: Empowering Children and Teens to Make Safe and Responsible Choices Online (And Remaining ‘Hands-on” to Ensure They Do). The subtitle of my parent’s book basically sums up my approach to these issues.
I am 53 and a single mom of 3 kids, ages 10, 12, and 14, two of whom were adopted internationally. I have been on the Internet since 1992, which in accord with profiles of Internet users should mean that I am a “techie, male” – which I am not.
Web sites: http://csriu.org / http://cyberbully.org
I have two web sites, http://csriu.org and http://cyberbully.org. The latter site provides the material most relevant to the present discussion. These are web sites I operate on my own. There has been no/limited funding in the US for research in the area of Internet concerns. I am not currently associated with any other organization. My work is primarily with public schools. I have been very heavily focused on research in the last two years and have just recently begun presenting on this issue. I was invited by the US Department of Education to make a presentation to a national safe schools conference last August. I am also currently developing informational materials for MySpace to address cyberbullying.

Hello I am 41 yrs old , licensed childcare provider in the USA. I have a childcare web page but this is more about my children and our lives. I have spent all my children's life's advocating for them and ensuring them a education. Due to their disabilities we have endured years of bullying. I have time and time again sent information to the administrators and had several meetings to change the way they teach children about bullying. I really feel they have not educated the children in a way to teach them more tolerance. Every individual in this world deserves to be here and not be bothered even if they are different. If is our jobs to make sure our children grow up to learn this. So often they see it differently and learn from others. I can tell you my older sons life will never be the same he cries all the time because he doesn't have a friend at 14. Kids see him as odd so they stay clear. The push him call him names and just mess with his head. He will meltdown at times and bawl himself to sleep saying how much he loves me.. My heart breaks every time. I love my son and want to have a safer world for him and others like him. I to grew up with bullying and the effects are lasting. I had a eating disorder, a very painful teenage years. Now at 41 finally have come to terms with it all. I don't wish that on anyone. If I can make a difference in just one person's life then I did good.. But I want to make it in several people's lives.
Project: FREE TO BE MY CHILDCARE
I am a licensed childcare provider in the USA. I am also mom to 2 boys 14 yr old with Aspergers Syndrome and 12 yr old with pdd-nos/ Adhd.
Due to my children's disabilities our lives have been ever changed by others who see their differences. My oldest son has endured years upon years of different stages of bullying. From being physicall abused to verbally abused. He is at the age now where the aggressive acts against him at times are really intense. He is also being sexually abused at school by others in the form of words , Such as "FAG, GAY, etc. He is bigger and gets emotional so many times has been the fall guy for others pranks.
My son many times has cried himself to sleep. Wishing he never had AS, just wanting to have a friend. Each time my heart breaks in a million pieces. That is where I came up with the name for my daycare. " FREE TO BE ME CHILDCARE" Of which I also take care of special needs children.
I know our world is changing. But it needs to change for the better. The pain this causes last's forever. I know I lived it myself.

Imelda Kemeza is a female and holds a Masters Degree in Education with a bias in Educational Psychology. When it comes to age, the African humour that a lady never tells her age assumes priority. Nevertheless, I’m a lecturer of Psychology to both Education and Health university students.
I would very much like to register for a PhD in Health Psychology after ascertaining a supervisor. I have carried on right from the secondary school level to intervene, take precautions and clinically counsel to overcome the adverse effects of bullying and violence.
